Sweetgum Grove

In celebration of Earth Day 2021, CNPP headed to Trent Street between 61st and 62nd Avenue in Cheverly's Historic Old 4th Ward. We removed invasive vines and shrubs strangling and crowding out established grove of Sweetgum trees. In one day, CNPP and the Fourth Ward Civic Association removed over 900 gallons of invasive plants. After clearing out the invading species, we laid down upcycled cardboard from Denizen’s Brewing and added a layer of wood chips. The cardboard and wood chips not only keeps the invasive plants at bay, but will make the area a great place to picnic.
