Cheverly Community Center

Site Leaders - Diane Beedle, Anna Hawkins

Because of success of our other projects, the Town of Cheverly asked CNPP to help with the planting around four key points of the town center and police station. In March 2022, we replaced all the invasive nandina in the raised beds surrounding the community center with native winterberries, ninebark, and wild geranium. We then added hearty native bee balm, brown-eyed Susans, and sundrops around the Kerley Anderson Park sign at the entrance to the complex. In front of the low wall, we planted an array of low-growing natives that will bloom from early spring to fall. In front of the police station, we added a rain garden and a formal hedgerow of fragrant sumacs.
